Investasimu.com. PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN) was established on 7 October 2004 based on Notarial Deed No. 12 dated 7 October 2004 of Yani Indrawaty Wibawa, S.H., a notary in Jakarta. Bayan Group was started by Dato' Dr. Low Tuck Kwong in 1973 through the establishment of PT. Jaya Sumpiles Indonesia (JSI), a contractor for land work, public works, and marine structures. JSI quickly became a pioneer in complex pile foundation works and became Indonesia's leading contractor in this field. In 1988, JSI ventured into contract coal mining and became a leading mining contractor until 1998 Dato' Dr. Low acquired PT. Gunungbayan Pratamacoal (GBP) and PT. Dermaga Perkasapratama (DPP). At that time GBP had not yet started mining and the Balikpapan Coal Terminal (under DPP) had a capacity of 2.5 million tons per year.
Since the purchase of its first mining concession, Bayan Group has shown rapid growth and now it has 5 coal mining concessions under PKP2B and 16 coal mining concessions under IUP with a total area of 126,293 ha.
Bayan Resources is engaged in open-cut mining with four major projects located in East and South Kalimantan, Indonesia. As an integrated coal producer, Bayan produces coal that ranges from high-calorie bituminous coal to sub-bituminous coal with low sulfur and ash content.
The Tabang concession, a key production asset of the Bayan Group, which currently produces around 80% of Bayan's total coal production, is one of the lowest-cost coal mines in Indonesia and is uniquely positioned to expand capacity rapidly with low capital expenditures.
